Vingroup announced the establishment of VinBus Transport Service Co., Ltd., officially joining the passenger transportation segment, on May 2, 2019. VinBus operates as a non-profit organization in order to contribute to the construction of a civilized and modern public transport system, reducing air and noise pollution for major cities of Vietnam.

It is expected that VinBus will provide transportation services from March 2020, starting in 5 big cities, namely Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh, and Can Tho.

VinBus Transport Service Co., Ltd. has a chartered capital of VND1,000 billion, operating in the field of public passenger transport under the non-profit model.

In order to meet public transport needs, contribute to building public transport networks, and especially to reduce emissions and noise, VinBus will use 100 percent electric buses. In the short term, 3,000 electric buses produced by VinFast will be put into operation.

At present, VinFast’s bus manufacturing facility is undergoing the construction and installment of the factory system. Siemens (Germany) is the partner that provides VinFast with technologies and components to produce electric buses. The establishment of VinBus is Vingroup's next step in its strategy to develop eco-friendly electric vehicles in general and electric buses in particular.

Regarding business orientation, VinBus will operate under the non-profit model. Accordingly, 100 percent of its profits will be reinvested by the company to improve the service quality, develop the system, and expand the service area to bring civilized and modern public transport services to a large number of people.

“When we first joined the automobile and scooter manufacturing industry, we have determined to develop and disseminate eco-friendly electric vehicles, gradually replacing gasoline vehicles. Providing public transport services with smart electric buses is one of the important steps of Vingroup to deliver new services, experiences, and high-tech applications to customers. Thereby, Vingroup hopes to participate in solving air and noise pollution problems in big cities, forming good habits, creating a clean and modern living environment for Vietnamese people,” said Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice President and General Director of Vingroup.

After healthcare and education sectors, Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, continues to operate not-for-profit in the public transport sector. That shows the company’s stature, prestige, and aspiration to contribute to society and is relevant to the trend of promoting social responsibility of large businesses in the world.
